Prescription Information

How We Supply Veterinary Medicines

Pet Meds Express is registered with the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) as an authorised UK retailer. We supply veterinary medicines classified as NFA-VPS and POM-VPS through our SQP (Suitably Qualified Person) for Companion Animals.

We do not supply POM-V medicines. POM-V medicines require a prescription from a registered veterinary surgeon and must be dispensed by a vet or veterinary pharmacist.

What Are NFA-VPS and POM-VPS Medicines?

NFA-VPS (Non-Food Animal — Veterinarian, Pharmacist, or SQP): These medicines do not require a veterinary prescription. They can be supplied by a registered SQP after asking the customer specific questions about their pet to ensure the product is safe and appropriate.

POM-VPS (Prescription Only Medicine — Veterinarian, Pharmacist, or SQP): These medicines also do not require a veterinary prescription when supplied by a registered SQP. Our SQP will ask questions about your pet before authorising supply.

Our Supply Process

Step 1 — Place your order
Add the product to your basket and complete checkout as normal.

Step 2 — Provide your pet's details
After your order is placed, we will contact you to collect the following information about your pet: name, species, breed, age, and weight. This is a legal requirement before we can dispatch NFA-VPS or POM-VPS medicines.

Step 3 — SQP review
Our qualified SQP will review your pet's details to confirm the product is suitable and safe for your animal.

Step 4 — Dispatch
Once approved, your order will be dispatched via Royal Mail Tracked service. You will receive a confirmation when it has been shipped.

No Vet Prescription Required

You do not need a veterinary prescription to purchase NFA-VPS or POM-VPS medicines from Pet Meds Express. Our SQP is legally authorised to supply these medicines directly to pet owners.

Genuine Medicines

All medicines supplied by Pet Meds Express are sourced through authorised UK veterinary pharmaceutical supply chains and stored in accordance with VMD requirements. We supply only genuine veterinary medicines.
